Day One: A Warm Welcome

The Flood Modeller Conference kicked off in style as flood modelling and water management professionals from across the country, arrived in Leeds at the historic Cloth Hall Court, a charming University of Leeds venue that set the tone for an energising two days.

Attendees were greeted by the Flood Products team and treated to warm pastries and even warmer drinks before the day officially began. The morning opened with three impactful presentations in the main room:

  • Richard Crowder welcomed attendees, setting the stage for the sessions ahead.

  • Pascal Lardet followed with a compelling keynote on Scotland’s evolving approach to flood resilience.

  • Adam Parkes wrapped up the trio with an exciting overview of what’s new and upcoming in Flood Modeller—including the much-anticipated Version 8 release.

From there, the conference split into three concurrent streams including presentations on NaFRA2 and flood forecasting, alongside sustainability and hydrology workshops. A special congratulations to I-Hsein Porter from JBA Consulting who won the 'Best Presentation Award' for his insightful talk on modelling to support the Grand Union Canal Water Transfer Scheme. The day was rounded off with shuffleboard and a meal in the evening, providing attendees further opportunity to socialise and connect.

Day Two: The Future Of The Industry

The second day of the Flood Modeller Conference had big shoes to fill following on from day one, but it's safe to say it did not disappoint. The morning buzzed with excitement as Flood Platform was officially launched, marking a major milestone in flood modelling.

Attendees then had the opportunity to try Flood Platform for themselves, getting hands-on in an interactive session directly after. On top of presentations and sessions on key topics such as Natural Flood Management and career development, our industry leaders of the future had the chance to deliver a series of short poster presentations on work they have been doing in the industry.
