It has been an exciting month at Flood Modeller, during which we’ve had the pleasure of delivering a series of free hydrology workshops in three different cities across the UK. In this blog, we will bring you up to speed and take a look back at each of the workshops. So, let’s start with the important question …
What did the workshops cover?
So we know they were hydrology-based, but what exactly did the workshops cover? Well, our Hydrology for Hydraulic Modeller workshops did what they said on the tin. Adam Parkes, Technical Director for Flood Products at Jacobs, gave an introduction to UK Flood Hydrology and an overview of Hydrology+ features before facilitating hands-on training using the Hydrology+ module within Flood Modeller.

Was there a workshop near me?
We hosted the first workshop in London at the Cottons Centre Jacobs office, situated on the bank of the River Thames. Here, Adam was joined by Cristina Agafon-Danila, Customer Success Lead at Jacobs, alongside nearly 40 attendees all ready to learn and progress their understanding of hydrology and Flood Modeller.
At the beginning of March, the workshop made its way over to Bristol, where Adam was joined by Susannah Hardwick, Head of Hydrology at Jacobs, and around 30 keen modellers, including a mix of new and old faces. Finally, the workshops came to a head in Leeds on 11th March, with 20 attendees arriving for the morning.

Comments and feedback
After delivering the workshops, here is what Adam Parkes had to say:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed delivering this workshop at each of the respective locations. It was great to be able to help both junior and senior hydraulic modellers alike and to dig into the time-saving capabilities of Hydrology+ in Flood Modeller. The groups were all fantastic to work with, and I really hope that everybody was able to take something positive away with them.”
We were also delighted to have received really positive feedback from attendees:
"There was really good and clear coverage of UK hydrology from Adam and the team. He gave me the confidence to be able to use Hydrology+ in everyday working life."
"Thank you for delivering this workshop, it's been really great. Hopefully, you'll do further workshops in the future. I think Hydrology+ will be a great tool in the industry."
"Today's session was excellent! It was well organised and delivered by a very knowledgeable presenter"
What next?
If you couldn't attend one of our in-person workshops, watch our recent webinar on hydrology essentials. This webinar guides you through the application of hydrology in hydraulic modelling, discusses various flood estimation methods used in the UK, and explores Flood Modeller's Hydrology+ module.
Additionally, on the 8th and 9th of October this year, our Flood Modeller Conference will return to Leeds. Early bird tickets are already available, and you can secure yours here !!
