Flood study assessments are a standard requirement for impounding reservoirs and are typically mandated as safety matters for sites where reservoir embankment failure could pose a risk to life in the community (Category A Dams).
Using Flood Modeller for integrated modelling of reservoir cascades, Jacobs has refined the procedure for flood study hydraulic and hydrology analyses, focusing on sites in the north-west of England.
In this webinar, Jane Sellars, Hydraulic Modeller at Jacobs, will cover the development of the reservoir modelling process, from simple rapid analysis to sophisticated hydrodynamic models. She will also discuss the representation of key appurtenant structures such as overflows, spillways, by-wash channels, and catchwater transfers.
This webinar will also highlight the issues with integrating complex structures and arrangements outside of standard 1D hydraulic equations, including the use of physical model test data and modelling of overflows using a fine-grid 2D model.
