Description
15th July 2026 | 12PM BST
The final instalment in our Flood Risk Assessments webinar series offers a practical overview of key guidance from the Environment Agency related to hydrological analysis and hydraulic modelling for Flood Risk Assessments.
In this session, Faye Thompson, Flood Risk Modelling Advisor at the Environment Agency, and Phil Sale, Senior Modelling Advisor at the Environment Agency, guide attendees through how flood risk evidence is reviewed as part of the land‑use planning process. Drawing on their extensive experience reviewing hydrological studies and hydraulic models, they explain what guidance applies, how it is interpreted in practice, and what is typically required to achieve regulatory acceptance.
The presenters will discuss how the scale and depth of the Environment Agency's review depend on the classification of development vulnerability and the associated level of flood risk. They will also introduce the Environment Agency’s review templates for hydrology and hydraulic models, outlining the types of evidence, justification, and modelling approaches typically required to achieve acceptance.
This webinar is designed for consultants, developers, and practitioners involved in Flood Risk Assessments, offering clear insights into regulatory expectations and practical advice based on real-world review experiences across England.
