Third party integration

Flood Modeller is extremely flexible and allows integration with a range of third-party software packages and platforms.

Use the TUFLOW link to dynamically link Flood Modeller to TUFLOW. This enables you to use the TUFLOW 2D solvers and benefit from Flood Modeller’s GIS-like interface, extensive range of structures, and the industry leading 1D river solver.

Jacobs is a distributor for TUFLOW software, providing front line technical support and specialist training – essential for anyone linking Flood Modeller to TUFLOW.

Use Flood Modeller within Delft-FEWS for Flood Forecasting.  Flood Modeller can be seamlessly integrated with Deltares’ Flood Early Warning System (Delft-FEWS). When combined, the systems can perform rapid and robust calculations required to predict water levels and flows as a result of rainfall and/or extreme sea levels hours or days ahead, providing a state-of-the-art forecast and warning system.

In addition to Flood Modeller's intuitive graphical user interface, third-party geographic information systems (GIS) can be used to develop models and post-process outputs. QGIS is a free and open-source cross-platform desktop application which is compatible with Flood Modeller's input and output files. It is a complementary tool and can support viewing, editing, and analysis of geospatial data.

Open file structure

Flood Modeller's intuitive user interface automatically processes your input data to the required formats. However, its open data file format and data structure means you can also incorporate bespoke tools and customised workflows. You are free to develop scripts to create or edit selected Flood Modeller files and even combine these with command lines to run single or large  batches of simulations. The open file structure means nothing is hidden, allowing clients, model auditors and other stakeholders to view the details of your model outside of Flood Modeller.
