Flood Modeller includes a range of powerful visualisation tools for your 1D and 2D models and their results. It also makes it easy to share and export results to a range of common formats.

Building your model

Within Flood Modeller you have all the tools you need to build and visualise 1D and 2D models. Your 1D network is part of a full GIS map view. This gives you a complete overview of even the most complicated model in its real-world context, whilst making it easy to drill down into the details. This has been made all the more powerful with the addition of web base mapping and aerial photography.

3D viewer

Designed for simple visualisation and animation of flood mapping data in three dimension, enabling you to superimpose a water surface onto a loaded ground grid layer. The 3D Viewer adds another dimension to your model results, letting you view and animate your data in stunning 3D. 3D It is a great way to see your results in context - enabling you to visualise them alongside the terrain data.

Flood Viewer

Our unique Flood Viewer tool provides an effective way to share your model results and associated data in a simple map view. What’s more, the Flood Viewer setup tool makes it a breeze to set up and can even download all the map tiles it needs, so can run completely offline. The self-contained project folder can easily be shared with others, and no specialist software or GIS knowledge is needed to use the viewer.

Amimating results

2D results (and mapped 1D results) can be visualised, interrogated, animated and recorded from the main map view. You can even run multiple animations simultaneously to compare different scenarios of your model.


A wide range of charts are at your fingertips, to visualise the cross-sections and long-sections of your 1D model, which means you can quickly identify and rectify issues with your input data. Once you have run your model, these charts become even more powerful – enabling you to animate results directly on these sections.

Google Earth

Single flood extents and complete animated results can also be exported to Google Earth, as well as a range of other standard formats. The Export to Google Earth button converts a shapefile to kml format and provides the option to upload the file to Google Earth after the conversion is complete.

TIN creator

Generate and edit interpolated triangular network surfaces, used to transform 1D hydraulic model results into 2D flood extents. It can triangulate any complex surface containing polygons, holes, polylines and points.
