We're taking Flood Modeller 2020 online!

Due to the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19, and the longer-term social distancing measures that are likely to be in place, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Flood Modeller 2020 conference. It was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday 1st October at the Geological Society in London.

Having reviewed feedback from previous events, we found that a large percentage of attendees found the opening session highly informative and was one of the key reasons why they attended year after year. This session traditionally showcased the latest updates to the software, allowed the audience to engage with our development team and learn more about future enhancements to the software.

We have decided to take Flood Modeller 2020 online and offer a free webinar mini-series specifically around demonstrating how to use some of the latest features within Flood Modeller.

Flood Modeller 5.0, the next generation of our industry-leading river, floodplain and urban drainage modelling, and real-time flood forecasting software, will be launched in October 2020. It is the most significant update to the software since the release of Flood Modeller 4.0 in 2015, and will provide a wide-range of new features and capabilities that will transform the way you undertake your flood risk modelling.

The webinar series will consist of four webinars, totalling 2.5 hours, across a six-week period.

Introducing the next generation of Flood Modeller

Wednesday 28 October 2020 at 12:00 GMT (one hour) This webinar will be delivered by Jacobs’ Dr. Jon Wicks, Technical Director for Flood Modeller. Jon will showcase some of the latest features, including the new 1D urban solver, 2D GPU solver and enhanced modelling capabilities that enable you to embed structures directly within your 2D model domain.

Integrated catchment modelling using Flood Modeller

Wednesday 11 November 2020 at 12:00 GMT (30 minutes) This webinar will be delivered by Jacobs’ Dr. Jon Wicks, Technical Director for Flood Modeller. Jon will showcase Flood Modeller's new 1D urban solver and demonstrate how it can be used to undertake integrated catchment modelling and combine surface and subsurface flow.

Wednesday 25 November 2020 at 12:00 GMT (30 minutes) This webinar will be delivered by Jacobs’ Dr. Bob Potter, Development Manager for Flood Modeller. Bob will showcase Flood Modeller's new 2D GPU solver and demonstrate how it can be used to harnesses the power of modern graphics processing unit (GPU) hardware to provide 2D modelling results fast.

Enhance your 2D modelling with Flood Modeller

Monday 7 December 2020 at 12:00 GMT (30 minutes) This webinar will be delivered by Jacobs’ Dr. Bob Potter, Development Manager for Flood Modeller. Bob will showcase a number of enhanced 2D modelling capabilities within Flood Modeller, including the ability to embed structures directly within your 2D model domain.

In addition to these webinars, we are running a number of others which are designed to provide you with 30 minutes of useful modelling knowledge to help you build, run and analyse your flood models. Find out more.
