Jacobs' Dr. James Savage, Flood Modeller Training Manager, shares his thoughts on flood modelling in the cloud.

Flood inundation modelling is continually becoming more complex and data intensive. This has been particularly driven by advances in modelling software, improvements in computer processing power and increased data availability. Even more importantly, demand is increasing for more detailed and robust analysis, which also provides greater understanding of the certainty (or uncertainty) of flood risk.

This paper looks to explore in more detail what cloud computing is and how flood risk management as an industry can take advantage of these recent advances, using Flood Cloud as an industry leading example.
