Created in 1999, the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) is the recognized leader within the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) for the integration of technical expertise and public policy in the planning, design, construction, and operation of environmentally sound and sustainable infrastructure impacting air, land, and water resources.

EWRI’s 2016 Congress Conference took place at the Palm Beach, FL (USA) Convention Center on May 22nd through 26th. With over 950 technical presentations and various site tours, the 2016 conference theme ‘Critical Infrastructure Needs: Water and the Environment’ will address the diversified and competing issues of identifying critical infrastructure needs in the water and environmental industry.

Elise Ibendahl, CH2M’s Regional Technology Leader for flood risk management showcased CH2M’s next generation flood modeling software. Elise’s paper, ‘Rapid 2D Flood Risk Assessment for Radnor Township, PA, USA’, discusses how the 2D FAST (Dynamic) solver within Flood Modeller Pro has been used to identify areas with the highest risk of flooding as part of a watershed assessment for Radnor Township.

Elise also presented, ‘New Approaches in Flood Forecasting and Warning – Risk-Based Decision Support with Probabilistic Forecasts’, which highlighted CH2M’s global expertise in flood risk management.
