Hi all, I got a message from the output configuration when set >1:

''The frequency attribute has an invalid value according to its data type''; when the output frequency is = 1, it indicates there would be large output due to output every 1 sec. Anyone know how to solve it? Thanks

 Hello,

I have experience on ISIS 2D and Mapper, however when I try to add a map picture over my DTM layer, they don't line up together. The DTM is x = 30000 whereas the map is x=200

Could anyone help me to put one layer over another at the same size

Thanks

T

ISIS 2D Boundary Conditions

As an undergraduate engineering student, I'm carrying out some research for 1D, 2D and 1D-2D linked modelling. I've set up the domain for an 'idealised' channel (400m long and 30m wide with a constant depth). I've set the upstream boundary across the width of the channel to be a constant total flow ( 200m3/s) and the downstream boundary across the channel width to be a constant water elevation ( 2m). After setting the initial condition to being of global water level equal to that of the downstream boundary elevation ( 2m) and running the model, the velocity throughout the model is 0. Please could some advice be given about what needs to be done in order to achieve the velocity expected by the equation u = Q/A. Thanks very much. Dan

Hi, how do you create a boundary file that allows water to leave my active area? At the moment, water is introduced through a boundary condition but when it reaches the end of my study site within the active area, water begins to build up and creates unrealistic depths. Cheers

Is it possible to view 1D ISIS results within the 2D ISIS results similar to the way TUFLOW uses water level lines?

Spatial diagnostics output in ISIS2D

hi. I am having problems running a breach model in ISIS2D model. it stops running shortly after starting due to mass balance error exceeding the tolenace value. My first guess was to reduce the time step but this has not helped. I have also checked that the location of the inflow boundary is not too step as to produce supercritical flows. I am not sure what else to try as I only have the ADI scheme availale. as a test I have moved the inflow boundary to several other locations but the result is always the same.

The help guide states that a "Spatial diagnostics information can be output as a shapefile" I can see a .sql written after the model crashes but dont see to be able to access it.

on a different note... I am trying to raise a ticket through my flood modeller, but the links dont work (at least for me).

any help would be appreciated.

many thanks

Liliana

Hi. I am new with ISIS and just downloaded it and hour ago. I would like to load my ArcMAP DEM file (.xml) in ISIS to use it for inundation based on flood volumes. But nothing appears when I load the .xml file I am using in ArcMap. What could be the problem?

1D Mass Balance File

Hi, I new to ISIS and am working my way through the Quick Start guides. One thing I cannot work out is how to generate the 1d mass balance csv required for the 1d-2d link (Section 3.2 of the 2d quick start guide). One of these files is included in the example data but I cannot work out how to generate one of my own. Any help greatly appreciated.

Im trying to represent a proposed development in mapper so that when i model a breach of a river i can compare the before and after scenarios for the effect the development may have on the surrounding area. Is it possible to represent building outlines or alter the Digital Ground Model levels to represent a developed site? Thanks

Hi, i think the reason for my model not running properly is due to the DEM. I checked the DEM used in one of the examples in ArcGIS...and it showed 3 bands whereas in a normal DEM there should be only one band...is there any difference in the two DEMs???...thanks

Is it possible to set up a batch run of multiple ISIS2D models either through a command line or a batch file in ISIS? Also if you can set up a batch file is it possible to get it to set multiple runs going simultaneously like in ISIS or would you need to create several separate batches?

Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to script ISIS mapper tools using Python? In particular I'm interested in batch processing the 1d model results and interpolating them to a grid for integration with 2d results. Thanks Ed

How to perform 2-D modeling??

Hi, I need some help in performing simple 2-D modeling. The ISIS Guides have not explained the issue clearly. In my case, basic geometric properties of a small river are available, which should be sufficient enough for building a model. However, no GIS information is available, such as DEM. In this case, can I proceed without using GIS information? Based on the ISIS 2D Quick Start Guide, it seems that ISIS requires to apply ISIS Mapper in building a 2-D modeling. Do we have to use GIS information? Do we have any simpler but more straightforward option to delineate a small river? Can we just build a model by "drawing" a river step-by-step, as we can do in HEC-RAS? Regards Yi

Groyne and inbank fows

Hello I wonder if somebody has used ISIS 2D for modelling groynes and/or inbank flows. I mean the river and its flood plain modelled by using just ISIS 2D. I have some experience with Tuflow but I'd like to listen from someone who has used ISIS for doing that. Thanks in advance and best regards SDHerbon
