Now I have a new issue with a 2D simulation of a scenario with rainfall BC using FloodModeller (trial version). When I try to run the simulation, I get a XML file validation error which says "The 'https://www.floodmodeller.com:xll' element has an invalid value according to its data type."; same for :yll. I have checked the number of cells in my DEM and it is not exceeding 100000 cells as required by trial version. I am not being able to figure out what is causing this error. It would be great to know if anyone has an idea about it or soultion to it.

Many thanks in advance.

Konrad

(xll and yll being the x & y coordinates resepctively of the lower-left corner of the computational domain).

It looks like something is specified incirrectly in the Lower-left coordinates, e.g. non-numeric value.

1. Can you check these in the 2D simulation form (Domains > Domain Details > Lower Left X (&Y):?

2. If this looks OK, can you check the data in your run simulation file (e.g. my2Drun.xml) in a text or xml editor? Somewhere near the top you should have something like...

<domain domain_id="Domain 1">

<computational_area>

<xll>538000.000</xll>

<yll>177000.000</yll>

<dx>5</dx>

...

Are the values in the xll and yll tags (sensible) numeric values?

Hi Shrestha,

Could you check your simulation xml file?

xll/yll should be a floating point number, something like below:

This will be automatically filled in once you add a ascii grid into the topographic features list box.

<computational_area>

<xll>538010.0</xll>
<yll>177010.0</yll>
<dx>50</dx>
<nrows>80</nrows>
<ncols>120</ncols>
<active_area>GIS\Active_Area1.shp</active_area>
<rotation>0</rotation>
</computational_area>

Regards,

Yong

NB: Flood Modeller free is not a trial version, it is a Free version with no time limitation.

Thank you Konrad and Yong_Wang. I have checked my 2D Simulation Domain Details and xml file and the values look absolutely fine. As you indicated, they are coordinates of lower left corner of my domain. Here is an excerpt from it:

<domain domain_id="M1">

<computational_area>

<xll>6877,5</xll>

<yll>336014,5</yll>

<dx>1</dx>

<nrows>326</nrows>

<ncols>305</ncols>

<active_area>C:\Users\m1\ActiveArea1.shp</active_area>

What else could be a problem? co-ordinate system?

Best regards,

Shrestha

Hi Shrestha,

can you change to

<xll>6877.5</xll>

<yll>336014.5</yll>

The engine probably cannot reconginise ',' as decimal point.

Did the 2d simulation window save your xml file as ',' rather than '.'?

regards,

Yong

The problem is solved: it was the decimal separator in the xll and yll values. I changed it to points from commas and it is running fine now. Thanks a lot for your help. Cheers!

Best regards,

Shrestha
