How can we insert weirs or orifices or bridges or spillways ... in a 2D network ?

These hydraulic structures are easily inserted in a 1D network but I could not find anything about them for the 2D.

Hi Sgaiji,

2D domain does not support strucutres. you can build a 1D - 2D linked model where your structures are represented in the 1d model.

thanks and regards,

From my point of view, this is problematic both with respect to

- other softwares working in 2D and managing these structures (DHI-MIKE or HECRAS 5) ;

- cases studies which could apply to FloodModeler (not only rivers or lake) ;

I hope this will be resolved soon.

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for your support. We are working hard on this to bring those features in future releases of Flood Modeller (hopefully soon!)

kind regards,

Hi Yong,

Any more progress on this? It would be really useful to be able to insert a 1D culvert (for land drainage under a road/railway embankment for example) into a 2D domain without having to define a whole 1D channel. I've done this before in TUFLOW but it would be great if that functionality was built into Flood Modeller.

Hello everyone!
Has there been progress on this issue (weirs, orifices, bridges in a 2D-model)?
Would be a very useful feature (in fact an essential one...) for me as well!
Thanks & kind regards!
