Version 4.5 of Jacobs industry-leading 1D and 2D flood modelling software will be released in April 2019.

We’ve listened to our community’s suggestions and have tried to include as many useful and time saving functions as we can. You can now access Flood Modeller 4.5 Beta, so please give it a try and start taking advantage of all the new features. We look forward to receiving your comments during this testing phase.

To install the beta, download and run the installation file. It will install in parallel to your existing version of Flood Modeller, allowing both versions of the software to work.

Note that McAfee Endpoint can prevent the installation starting.  To resolve this, right-click on the McAfee shield icon, select ‘Quick Settings’, then unselect ‘Host IPS’ and repeat to unselect ‘Network IPS’.  To run the installation, right click on the installation file and choose, “Run as Administrator”. Also, on some systems you may need to manually register the mapping component. If you encounter a problem starting Flood Modeller then browse to the “gui” subfolder in the beta software folder, right-click on the file “regMapWinGIS.cmd” and select “Run as Administrator”.

Catalogue Tool

The Catalogue Tool has been designed to help organise and manage all data associated to river or floodplain modelling projects using Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW. It incorporates standardised templates to guide the user to collect all required data associated to a project, and offers multiple benefits for all parties involved.

Damage Calculator

New options are now provided to enhance your calculations using the Damage Calculator tool to include additional damages beyond direct property damage, such as vehicle damages, emergency response and evacuation costs.

Asymmetrical Conduit Unit

The Asymmetrical Conduit Unit models closed-topped conduits of any possible shape of cross-section. If the conduit to be modelled is not of rectangular, circular, full arch, sprung arch or any other symmetrical shape, then the Asymmetrical Conduit Unit should be used. A minimum of two Asymmetrical conduits are required to create a conduit reach.

Pier-Loss Bridge Unit

Our new Pier-Loss Bridge Unit computes the afflux at bridges where the dominant cause of losses is the friction from piers. It utilizes the empirical equation derived by Yarnell (1934).

Link Lines Tool

A new Link Lines Tool for linking your Flood Modeller and TUFLOW models has been developed, automatically filling certain data fields and thus greatly improving the user experience.
