Flood Viewer is an intuitive tool that lets non-technical users effortlessly view and interrogate model and other flood-related data without the need to purchase any software. It enables technical users to quickly and effectively visualise data and share project outputs with colleagues, clients and third parties.
Flood Viewer helps users share information with different organisations, particularly useful in emergency situations. It also keeps flood information readily accessible and allows users to get more from their data.
Flood Viewer represents flood information in an interactive way, enabling better decision-making and more effective engagement with stakeholders. It is an interactive tool for flood risk management. Outputs from models and existing flood maps can be viewed using Flood Viewer, turning modelling information into user-friendly illustrations of the risk of flooding in a particular area.
Flood Viewer enables easy viewing of a range of flooding scenarios, such as different return-period events, climate scenarios or defence options. It allows users to view information about potential flooding in an area, using interactive tools to interrogate the data and show different scenarios.
By using industry standard web browser technology, Flood Viewer avoids the need to purchase expensive GIS software. It is designed to work independently or alongside Flood Modeller Pro and is extremely easy to set up using existing data. It can also be linked to live data feeds. The intuitive illustrations created by Flood Viewer makes it ideal for sharing information quickly, clearly and cost effectively.
View in any online browser
Flood Viewer can be run from virtually anywhere, allowing partner organisations and other stakeholders to have universal access to the same information, to enable joint decision-making.
It can be viewed on any computer that has a web browser installed. It doesn't require an internet connection or expensive GIS software as the installation includes everything Flood Viewer needs to run, even the map tiles!
Simple, intuitive interface
Flood Viewer has a simple interface designed to be intuitive enough for non-technical users to get to grips with quickly, and robust enough to be used for decision making in emergency situations.
An interactive slider allows you to quickly fade between different flood extents. You can pan and zoom around the map and switch layers on and off as needed (including background mapping, property points, defence lines or aerial photography).
Integrated with Flood Modeller
Flood Viewer is completely integrated within the Flood Modeller Pro interface. Flood Modeller Pro includes a Flood Viewer setup tool that enables users to create simple projects quickly.
It loads flood extents as well as other shape files and images and automatically downloads the corresponding map tiles to create a package that can be shared with others on a memory stick, over a network or on an online server.
CH2M's Flood Viewer technology has formed the basis for a number of bespoke viewer tools including: coastal data analysis, flood incident management, sediment mapping, water resources scenario analysis and national strategy data analysis. By incorporating a range of custom controls we can enable users to interact with their information in the most intuitive way for their specific purpose, whilst still retaining the core Flood Viewer code and simple user interface.
