On November 19, more than 100 industry leaders and flood risk experts attended CH2M HILL’s international flood software user conference and product launch at the firm’s European headquarters in London to find out more about Flood Modeller Suite. Its introduction brings together a range of leading flood simulation software products, all of which have been specifically developed to address today’s and tomorrow’s flood risk management challenges.
At the core of Flood Modeller Suite is the flood modelling software product; Flood Modeller Pro 4.0. It combines all the existing industry leading functionality of CH2M HILL’s current flood modelling software, which has proved extremely popular with over 13,000 users worldwide, with new features and a completely new interface.
“Not only will Flood Modeller Pro retain all of the key features and proven performance that users have come to love and rely on, it will introduce new innovative features, more flexibility and additional productivity tools - all designed to make your life easier,” said Dr. Richard Crowder, director for CH2M HILL’s Flood Modeller Suite. “We are also pleased to offer a free version of our innovative software, called Flood Modeller Free, which will be made available for commercial use.”
To ensure that the needs of technical and non-technical users are met, CH2M HILL has also integrated their existing flood visualisation tool; Flood Viewer into the Flood Modeller Suite. Flood Viewer is a simple and intuitive visualisation tool, allowing flood model results to be shared with almost anybody, without the need to install any specialist software or be connected to the internet. Flood Viewer can be used for free alongside or independently of Flood Modeller Pro.
The 2014 event also saw Flood Alert, a free, smartphone flood warning application, become more closely tied with CH2M HILL’s new suite of software. Flood Alertis relied upon by tens of thousands of users across England and Wales to provide them with real-time flood alert and flood warning information.
The final product unveiled as part of the Flood Modeller Suite was Flood Portal; a web based flood data and asset information system. It is a flexible and modular system allowing users to store and share information with risk management authorities, stakeholders or project delivery partners.
Dr. Crowder, added “by bringing these tools together, we can provide better integration across all of our flood-related products, we can provide better levels of service to our clients, and we can continue to create new and more innovative products that service our client needs”.
