
Introduction to 1D river modelling
Learning objectives
By the end of our CIWEM accredited training course, you will understand the 1D river modelling capabilities of Flood Modeller and when to apply the software to different types of application.
The course will allow you to familiarise yourself with the various tools and features within the software, allowing you to build your own 1D river model, run simulations, troubleshoot common modelling issues and interpret results.

Course pre-requisites
This course assumes no prior knowledge of flood modelling or Flood Modeller software.
It is recommended that attendees complete the ‘Getting started’ guides prior to the training to ensure the best possible learning experience.

Konrad Adams, Senior Developer and Forecasting Specialist
Konrad has been using Flood Modeller for more than 20 years and has delivered training for the last 10 years. He regularly delivers training, including the 1D modelling, 2D modelling and flood forecasting courses.
Wiktor Lewkut, Flood Modeller
Wiktor has a background in civil engineering and has been part of Jacobs' modelling team for 3 years, successfully delivering a number of hydraulic and hydrological models. He has also been providing technical help and guidance regarding the usage of Flood Modeller.


Additional information
The in-person version of this course is delivered across two-days, starting at 09:30 and finishing at 17:00.
The online version is delivered across three-days. It consists of six sessions, with each session being delivered across a two-hour period. Two sessions are delivered each day with the first session in the morning followed by a second session in the afternoon.
Prior to the training, you will receive a detailed document which provides all the information you need to undertake the course, including details on how to access Flood Modeller.
Each attendee must provide their own laptop to undertake the training. However, a one-month Standard edition Flood Modeller training licence (worth £600) is provided to each attendee.
This course is approved by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and attendance will contribute toward your continuing professional development (CPD).
