The event will be an excellent opportunity for existing users as well as non-users of Flood Modeller to find out about the software's most recent features and the exciting new developments coming soon.

What to expect
The 2024 edition promises to be an exciting and informative experience for attendees. Several industry leaders will deliver a series of presentations covering a wide range of topics. These will include case studies about recent projects, regulatory updates and much more!
In previous years, the conference welcomed speakers from organisations such as the Environment Agency, AECOM, JBA Consulting, Mott MacDonald, and many others.
There will also be Q&A sessions, workshops, and hands-on sessions. Additionally, it will provide a platform for delegates to network with their peers in the flood modelling community.

Neil Hunter
Head of Flood Modelling
Neil is JBA’s Head of Modelling & Assessment and has over 18 years’ flood risk management experience. He is a highly experienced hydraulic modeller and has worked on flood-related projects that have ranged in scale from site-specific risk analysis to national-scale hazard mapping studies. Recent examples of the latter include Canada, US, Flanders and Wales. In parallel, he directed an R&D project for the Environment Agency on the use of real-time flood inundation models for incident management and provided technical input into the development of the UK’s first surface water flood forecasting system for the National Flood Forecasting Centre. Neil is currently working with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales to develop replacements for their respective national flood risk assessments.

Sun Yan Evans
Technical Director and Mott MacDonald Fellow
Sun Yan Evans is a Technical Director and a Fellow at Mott MacDonald, a global consultancy, and a former Global Practice Leader for Storm and Flood Management. She’s a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management Board of Trustees. With over 35 years in the water sector, she has led numerous river and coastal studies worldwide. Her expertise lies in water and environment engineering, hydrodynamic and water quality modelling, and flood resilience. She also serves as a UK R&D Theme Advisor and acts as an expert witness for flood and water quality-related matters.
Katie Pearson
Technical Head of Hydraulic Modelling
Katie is the Technical Head for modelling in the Water business at AECOM. She has 20 years’ experience, beginning in flood risk modelling and mapping and now working more widely across the Water sector. Katie leads the technical community of modellers at AECOM in training & development, quality and innovation & improvement. She has a particular interest in the use of modelling for flood warning and forecasting. She develops the community to meet client needs, with a current focus on modelling to understand the impacts of storm overflows. Katie is a Fellow of CIWEM, an Assessor & Reviewer for CIWEM and a passionate advocate promoting STEM education and careers.
Richard Crowder
Director Digital Flood Products
Richard is Jacobs’ director responsible for our suite of Digital Flood Products. Richard is based in Leeds, UK, and has almost 30 years’ industry experience, including 20+ years at Jacobs. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and also the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management. His first degree is in civil and structural engineering (Bradford, UK) and he has a PhD in physical and computational hydraulics. He spent time working at Deltares (Delft, NL) and spent time studying at Bowling Green State University (Ohio, US).
Richard’s previous roles include Business Development Director (Water, Europe), Framework Manager and Framework Director (Environment Agency, UK), and Growth and Sales Director (Water Catchment Management, Europe). His technical expertise includes - flood risk management; strategies; appraisals; business case development; engagement; modelling, mapping and data; flood modelling software; watershed management; and water resource management.
Adam Parkes
Technical Director Flood Products
Adam is a chartered scientist with two decades' experience in hydrology, hydraulic modelling and flood risk management, working across a broad range of flood risk and water management projects. With experience of flood studies including mapping, appraisal, scheme design, reservoir safety and flood forecasting, Adam's main focus is on providing technical leadership to our delivery teams and enhancing our range of digital flood products.
Adam enjoys innovative projects and finding new ways of working, especially working with the Flood Modeller development team to produce new features and enhance user experiences. Additionally, Adam regularly provides technical training both internally and externally in hydraulic modelling and hydrological analysis.
Simon Lewis
​Senior Technical Advisor
​Simon is a Senior Technical Advisor in the Environment Agency. He has 19 years’ experience in Flood and Coastal Risk management mostly focused on non-real-time modelling. Simon has a strong passion for enabling technology and innovation that enhances and improves how flood modelling is carried out with in the Environment Agency and the wider flood modelling community.
